    The Middleware Architect leads the development of a state-of-the-art integration strategy and architecture, and guides the development of high performance integration applications and frameworks in support of web and mobile applications. Core responsibilities of this hands-on role include assessing needed changes to the integration architecture, defining proper use of integration technologies & patterns, enterprise level API and Web Service identification, and the development of management processes to govern the integration layer.



    The Middleware Architect will contribute to the development of roadmaps and migration plans for integration of business systems, and infrastructure to streamline interfaces, reduce redundancy and business costs. The Middleware Architect must have a strong hands-on development track record building integrations utilizing a variety of integration products, tools, protocols, technologies and patterns.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    1. Find efficient, reusable solutions to complex technical problems. Help development teams implement ideal solutions by building frameworks and prototypes. 
    2. Design and implement products and features. Plan technical solutions for new products, features, and enhancements. Interface with other teams and Solera companies to research ideal solutions and to coordinate plans and execution.
    3. Own the past, the present, and the future. Identify subpar solutions and solve technical problems before they become too big to handle.

    Additional responsibilities of the role include:

    • Notable communication skills for producing documentation, plans, and design for technical and non-technical audiences
    • Strong grasp of SDLC, particularly development, quality management, deployment, and operational realities
    • Exceptional software development contributor; you will be writing code
    • Expert in Node.js and Java
    • Previous experience with greenfield / R&D / startup projects
    • Previous experience with enterprise projects
    • Has steered at least one project from conception to commercialization
    • Experience with Linux, Ansible, Docker, AWS, PCF
    • Generalist mindset: Can switch to app development, DevOps, testing, UI/UX, or backend modes when needed
    • Proficiency with statically typed languages, such as Java, C++
    • General understanding of software design patterns, security by design, scalability, Paa

    Are You Qualified?

    • Must have a BS Degree in Computer Science or a related field and/or equivalent technical experience 
    • 5+ years of experience building enterprise integrations, middleware and APIs
    • 3+ years hands-on experience with developing server-side APIs both REST and SOAP based APIs
    • 7+ years of experience in a similar role designing and implementing complex solution architectures for enterprise applications. 
    • Hands-on experience with implementing API security models like certificate authentication, OAuth v2, etc.
    • DB skills on MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MSSQL, and Oracle. Working knowledge of Hive/Hadoop a plus
    • Experience with cloud and application integration.
    • Working knowledge of relational database design and data management techniques.
    • Ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements.
    • Ability to define multiple solution options to business problems.
    • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
    • Knowledge of information principles and policies.
    • Understanding of application development methodologies.
    • Understanding of SOA, object-oriented analysis and design, or client/server systems.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
    • Excellent planning, facilitation and organizational skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work with others at all levels; effective at working with geographically distributed and culturally diverse teams
    • Willingness to learn new technologies/tool and train your peers
